Our New Student Teacher

We have the wonderful opportunity to have another University student in our classroom as one of her last stops to becoming a teacher.  Miss Trowbridge joins us from Evangel University, graduating this May!  We love having college students in our classroom as it gives us an opportunity to share how 1st and 2nd graders learn and we get the chance to show them a thing or 2 about being a teacher. :)

Miss Trowbridge began with us the last week in January and has become familiar with our classroom community pretty quickly.  She has even begun teaching a few lessons already.  She will be with us through the month of April so she will have a lot of time to learn from us and help the kiddos prepare for their future as we help her with her own.

I thought it would be easiest to have Miss Trowbridge share a little about herself here on the blog so that you know a little more about who is with us in the classroom each day.  So without further rambling from me....here is Miss Trowbridge!

My name is Genelle Trowbridge, and I am a senior at Evangel University. This semester I get to be in the wonderful 1st and 2nd grade classroom as a student teacher. I am from Arkansas and have always loved working with children. My favorite color is purple, and ice cream and cheesecake are my weaknesses. I am super excited to get to work with Mrs. Cantrell and a wonderful group of kidsfor the next three months!

So next time your kiddo mentions Miss Trowbridge you'll have a better idea of who she is!

We'd Like to Introduce To You...

We'd like to introduce to you: Miss Alison!  Miss Alison is going to college at Missouri State University and has chosen our classroom to spend the next 7 weeks with for her student teaching, after which she'll graduate from MSU!

So before we end up telling you everything about her, here she is!

I am very excited to be a part of Mrs. Cantrell's classroom for the next several weeks!  I have dreamed of becoming an early elementary school teacher for many years, and my time here at Fremont is the last part of my education before I can have a classroom of my own.  My passion for working with children has grown through many experiences including working at various day camps in Springfield and volunteering at summer camps, working at a preschool, experiences in schools through other MSU courses, and various other experiences.  I also love spending time in the outdoors camping, floating, biking, and hiking.  Even though I am excited to be a teacher, I still love to learn myself, and my favorite way to learn is through traveling and experiencing new things.  I was fortunate to study abroad during my junior year at MSU to Greece for a semester, and I have also traveled to Honduras, China, and Uganda for missions.  I hope to bring these experiences into the classroom as I begin planning the "World Around Me" unit!

Thank you for welcoming me into the classroom!  Already I have enjoyed seeing all of the wonderful learning and growing that takes place everyday.  I hope to teach all of the students in the classroom even just half as much as they and Mrs. Cantrell will be teaching me!
